Even before his death in 2005, the Hunter S. Thompson costume was becoming popular among college students on Halloween. Due a lot to the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, later adapted into a film starring Johnny Depp.

- Fishermans hat (Skip if you are bald or have the guts to shave your head to look like you are bald)
- Avaiator sunglasses
- Cigarette holder
- Flyswatter
